  • Its 5.7-inch QHD display, not only packs more pixels per square inch (2880 x 1440), it also introduces an all new 18:9 or 2:1 aspect ratio for videos. Basically, if you split the screen in half, you would see two perfectly symmetrical squares stacked on top of each other.
  • It also supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision to further enhance its viewing capabilities, although few apps beyond Netflix support these new standards yet.
  • Its revamped display isn't just for video either, if you flip it into landscape mode, the screen divides into two perfectly proportional squares, side-by-side for enhanced multitasking.
  • In spite of its beautiful, big 5.7-inch display it still fits comfortably in the hand and is still easy to use one-handed.
  • It has a sleek, metal and glass unibody design with tiny bezels that almost make you forget that its display is on the larger side.
  • It has a unique camera set up with two rear 13MP cameras, one for wide 125˚ angle shots and one for normal (71˚) angle photos, as well as, a 5MP, 100˚-wide-angle, front-facing camera.
  • The normal angle rear camera has an f/1.8 aperture lens with optical image stabilization, whereas the wide angle rear camera has a f/2.4 lens, lacks OIS and laser autofocus instead using phase detection autofocus.
  • Its camera app also adds a new square mode designed for maximum Instagram compatibility with four different modes to choose from including:
    • a guide shot mode designed to help you use a previous photo as guide to take photo with the same composition or framing;
    • a mode that lets you take a photo and see a preview of it immediately at the bottom of the screen;
    • a GIF-like mode that stitches together multiple shots or short videos; and
    • a grid shot mode that puts a four-shot collage together for you.
  • When it comes to making your own videos, it is miles ahead of some of its competition offering full manual control including focus peaking, hi-fi audio recording and a wind noise filter.
  • Finally, there's an LG smartphone with an IP68 rating able to withstand our wet, West Coast weather.
  • It has combined its rear fingerprint sensor with the power button, which you'll either love or hate.
  • With moderate use, you can expect its battery to last through the day on a single charge.
  • It's one of the few Android smartphones that supports Google Assistant right off the bat.
  • It offers microSD support up to 2TB.
